Bio: Andrea Queen, Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction, is a literacy specialist at the primary level. She holds Masters degrees in Elementary Education and Reading Specialist as well as certifications in School/Library Media Specialist and Pre-K education. Before joining the RESA staff, Ms. Queen worked as a Title 1 Math specialist. Bio: Courtney Pritchard, RESA 2 Technical Assistance Support Specialist, is a 2013 Logan County Teacher of the Year who is an expert in secondary curriculum and instruction. She has a Master of Arts in Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English from West Virginia University. Before coming aboard at RESA 2 in late October, 2014, she taught 8th grade English Language Arts at Chapmanville Middle School, where her students were celebrated with awards and accomplishments at the county and state levels. Kristi James is the Director of Special Education for RESA 2. Dr. James’ educational background is in elementary and special education, specific learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, diagnostic reading and she holds an EdD in Educational Leadership. She is a certified trainer in Classroom Instruction that Works, Co-Teaching, Differentiated Instruction, Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Intervention, and Reluctant Reader Intervention. Read more….
Tammy Stowers has a BA in Elementary Education and a MA in Reading from Marshall University. Prior to coming to RESA 2, Tammy worked at the central office level with staff development. She also served as a Technology Integration Specialist and Academic Coach.
At RESA 2, Tammy continues to work with professional learning as a Curriculum & Instruction Coordinator. She is involved with technical assistance to schools through the Instructional Practice Inventory, Literacy Design Collaborative, and provides assisted support to counties as requested. Read more….
Mr. Dalton, RESA 2 Regional Wellness Specialist, specializes in student and staff wellness using a holistic approach – addressing the social, emotional and physical needs. Wellness is more than just exercise and nutrition. It involves mental health, addressing poverty, cultural issues, and substance abuse issues. Mr. Dalton has spent the last nine years at RESA 2 cultivating relationships and a skill set to address these needs. He holds an MA in in Journalism from Marshall University and brinks this expertise to bear in informing staff, students and the community regarding health issues and topics. He is an expert presenter, passionate about students, and strives to ensure their needs are met wherever possible. Read more….
Mrs. Jarrell, RESA 2 Technical Assistance Support Specialist, is an expert in secondary curriculum and instruction and dropout prevention. She has a Master of Arts in Teaching with a certification to teach English Grade 5-Adult as well as a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Marshall University. Before joining the RESA team, she taught 12th grade English Language Arts at Chapmanville Regional High School where she prepared her students for the transition to college and/or career.
